Fig as fruit is mentioned in the Bible, Adam and Eve clad themselves with fig leaves, was a favorite
food of Cleopatra, even figs were presented as laurels to the winners as the first Olympic medals.
This fruit is a rich source of fiber that help control blood sugar levels and reduces cholesterol levels. Also rich in water and natural sugar is useful for recovery from exhaustion and detoxification.
Energy value in 100 g of fresh figs is 74kcal / 310kj.
Fig is rich with potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, selenium and zinc. The most contains vitamins are B complex, vitamin E and K and a little vitamin C

Honey-baked figs with vanilla ice-cream
Ingredients
4 fresh figs
Cinnamon
60 gr almonds
Vanilla ice cream
1 tablespoon water
 
Preparation
Heat the oven
to 200 C. Cut the stems off the figs. Put the figs in a baking pan, stem-side up. Cut a cross in the top of each fig, cutting almost to the bottom. Drizzle the honey over the figs. Sprinkle each one with a cinnamon. Bake the figs until they open up like flowers, 8 to 10 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven.
Transfer the figs to serving plates and sprinkle with the chopped almonds.
Add the water to the pan and return pan to the oven for 1 minute, and then stir to make a sauce. Drizzle the sauce over the warm figs and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
